Our story

Once upon a pond…

…there lived a toad who never hurried. While the other toads leapt about catching flies, he stretched out on a sun-warmed loaf of bread, puffed little bubbles from his pipe, and declared that the best things in life rise slowly.

We think he was onto something.

Then real life happened

The Lazy Toad began the way most good things do: at home, slowly, because someone we love needed bread they could actually trust. When gluten had to leave the table for good, we discovered what every celiac family knows — “gluten-free” too often means sad, crumbly, and suspiciously shared with a wheat-flour mixer.

So Emma did what any determined baker would do. She built a kitchen where gluten has never set foot, and then set about proving that gluten-free baking doesn’t have to be a compromise: real sandwich bread that bends instead of shatters, bagels that are boiled and chewy, cookies that disappear before the milk is poured.

The promise

  • 100% dedicated gluten-free home kitchen. No wheat flour in the house. No shared equipment. Ever.
  • Celiac-safe by design — because it’s personal for us, too.
  • Baked to order. Your treats are made fresh for your pickup window, not pulled from a freezer.
  • No compromise on taste or texture. If it doesn’t delight people who can eat gluten, it doesn’t make the menu.

One honest note: we do bake with eggs, dairy, and nuts, and some items contain them. Menu items with nuts are tagged, and we’re always happy to talk through allergies — just email us.
